The CLUI looked at gravel in this essential book about Los Angeles, examining the city of Irwindale, source of aggregate for much of the built landscape of Los Angeles, and a place so full of holes that more of the land in the city is a pit than not. Also included in this book is a section on traffic by CLUI associate Steve Rowell, as well as Lane Barden's spectacular aerial photographs of the city, and much more, about oil, water, telecommunications, and other infrastructure.
